Background for those who care to research the noble art of Embuggerance.
Methought I heard a voice cry, “Sleep no more!
Macbeth does murder sleep”—the innocent sleep,
Sleep that knits up the raveled sleave of care,
The death of each day’s life, sore labor’s bath,
Balm of hurt minds, great nature’s second course,
Chief nourisher in life’s feast. (The Scottish Play).
It works, it really does. Puzzled by my fury spontaneously generated after reading Creedy I sought a reason Why? I did not know Richard Green and for all I know, he could, possibly have been a little silly – on occasion, but then hasn’t everyone? No value there. Was he truly a ‘menace’? With no evidence either way – except the justly infamous ‘rumour mill’ it’s hard to say; so again, no return. Was it ‘operational’? ‘get home it is’, pushing on in the face of lousy weather – a certified killer in it’s own right – and one of my personal hobby horses; again no explanation which could be supported. All notions support inquiry and concern, but not fury.
I turned to the Bankstown Chronicles, the printed version (can’t do any serious reading ‘on screen’) and there, in the matrix the solution appeared. Embuggerance v Enforcement. Up until about 2008, the embuggerance line on the graph has a couple of peaks in an essentially steady line, reaching no significant numbers. There was a bit of push and shove – particularly from the AWI section – Campbell and Simpson active, but below the ‘red’ numbers, hovering about the low Amber mark. Campbell was eventually shuffled off to languish in flight Ops and with some notable exceptions, things were relatively peaceful.
Then Weeks moved out and Chambers moved in and the recently released from the pencil sharpening cupboard Worthington began his climb to prominence. The graph begins it’s steady, steep climb – touching the bright red marker for several cases. A quick glance at the associated notes clarifies the picture. What an ugly story it tells and what a detrimental effect it has had on operations and the willingness of anyone, to discuss anything outside of their own close circle. I spent an hour, remembering and reading before the little light came on.
The Creedy article was the first time I’d seen the unique Bankstown technique ‘in print’. All there; every one of my noted embuggerance triggers tripped. A classic manoeuvre, all the toys used – to justify one end. Carefully constructed, a ‘safety’ case spun in gossamer, reinforced with scraps of law, wrapped in mystique, boxed in fear of reprisal, all tied up in a nice neat bow, ready to baffle a lay court or terrify a selected victim. There is quite a long list of such events.
Anyway – I’m happy to have solved my puzzle; saddened to loose people, disgusted by gross hypocrisy and sickened by cowards, liars, cheats and bullies. But it has ever been thus.
Right then – has the Oz printed Greg Vaughan yet? They should have. Oh, Cheers P2; Aye it’s little enough, too much to hope that an unembellished, factual account of the “Green Embuggerance” would be printed by Creedy; but, ever thankful for small, few and far between mercies. Miracles are off the menu. No matter:-
“Breakfast Minnie, the day is my own”. Whistles up dogs, exeunt wheel house and toddles off to coffee on the river bank; and, gods willing, weather permitting – Blueberry muffins.
