Dark Forces - Please Explain

Victoria's a mess — and Premier Jacinta Allan knows exactly who's to blame. Not her own incompetence. Not the corruption. No… it's the dark forces. So she does the only reasonable thing: grabs a broom and flies to Hogwarts to recruit the greatest witch who ever lived — Headmaster Julia Gillard.

Labor failed again this week.

Their tax grab was already bad news for Australian families.

But they had the chance to at least walk back the parts that will hurt the vulnerable the most.

They could have chosen not to treat widows and divorcees like cash cows.

Instead, they passed tax laws that will have the tax collector knocking at the door when someone loses a spouse or a marriage breaks down.
This might sound dramatic.

But Labor can’t manage money, so they come after yours. They come grasping for cash from Australians in the toughest moment of their lives.

No one plans to lose a spouse.

No one plans to have a marriage collapse.

These aren’t tax-avoidance schemes. They’re moments of grief and uncertainty when families are trying to rebuild their lives.

These aren’t loopholes; they are life events.

Not content with hitting small businesses and the investors who actually create wealth and grow the economy, Labor decided they should pick out some easy targets.
And to make matters worse, they admitted this could be a problem, but decided to just ram the bill through the parliament with vague promises to fix it later.

It’s morally repulsive.

But we all know how it works when a Labor government introduces a tax. They will have to be dragged kicking and screaming to reverse it.

They knew there was a problem.

They were warned.

They passed it anyway.

In fact, Jim Chalmers simply implied in response to concerns that people will get over it.

You know what many people don’t get over: the death of a spouse.

And Chalmers and Albanese and Labor have just made that dark moment even darker by showing up at the door with their hand out.

Labor makes a lot of noise about being the party of the working class.

But the truth is they treat them with contempt. They tax to punish ambition and hard work. They tax to discourage you from trying to get ahead.

And when you’re doing it tough, they come and tax you more.

Grief should never become a revenue stream.

We’ll scrap Labor’s toxic taxes because governments should never profit from grief.

No Australian should ever receive a tax bill simply because they’ve lost the person they love.
Time for REAL solutions.
