Quote:Dear P2,
For the Albanese Government, there are no such things as solutions to problems
There are only politics to manage – and talking points for the media.
But right now, we’re facing a fuel security crisis – a problem Labor can’t talk its way out of.
And yet, Energy Minister Chris Bowen is doing his best to try.
It’s not going to work because Australia is a diesel economy.
And Australia is particularly exposed to the events in the Middle East.
We import nearly all of our crude oil and refined products.
We sit at the end of a long supply chain that relies on sometimes hostile powers like China to play ball.
Without fuel, our farmers, miners, and fishers are brought to a standstill.
Without fuel, the trucks that are transporting food, pharmaceuticals, and supplies stop moving.
Without fuel, our rural and regional areas are at risk.
Without fuel, small businesses around the economy will be hamstrung.
We’re already hearing reports of serious fuel shortages in regional areas and even in cities.
There’s been rationing too and stories of petrol stations running dry.
Chris Bowen and Anthony Albanese need to get fuel to where it’s needed.
But they have sat on their hands, stuck to their talking points, blamed Australians for buying too much fuel, signed some paperwork to release low-quality fuel, and only late this week convened a National Cabinet.
It’s too little, too late.
Labor needs to face up to facts.
Its Net Zero lunacy has created an energy crisis.
Its laissez-faire attitude is accelerating a fuel crisis.
Let’s hope the fuel tsar that Labor has appointed succeeds where Chris Bowen has failed.
Indeed, the fuel tsar has been given the job that Chris Bowen should be doing himself as Energy Minister.
Our nation is at a crossroads – but the choices could not be clearer:
Dump Net Zero and develop our sovereign energy sources so we have an abundance of cheap energy and become self-reliant.
Or continue to indulge in Labor’s green fantasy and make Australia energy-dependent on countries like China.
Only one of those choices leads to a future made in Australia.
