Well, it’s happening.

Led by Chris Bowen, this Labor government’s Net Zero obsession is all about diving head first into economic oblivion.

And they’re cooking the books in every way they can to justify it.

The government’s National Climate Risk Assessment report was released this week.

And what a fantastic work of fiction!

It’s full of apocalyptic scare-mongering.

It has every worst case scenario for climate change.

And completely ignores anything we can do as a nation that’s not Net Zero.

Economists have bagged the report, saying it “grossly exaggerates” its claim that billions of dollars will be ripped from the nation’s ­finances due to “extreme weather”.

It’s all just Labor’s political theatre.

They start with the outcome in mind and deliver everything needed to create that outcome: Net Zero at any cost.

How good was my colleague Andrew Hastie this week?

He said stopping Net Zero is a hill he’s prepared to lose his political career on.
I reckon he’s right to do so.

Why? Because the only certainty about Net Zero is that YOU will pay for it. 

You will have to live with less reliable but more expensive energy.

This is what Andrew said on Monday:

We know through independent modelling conducted by Net Zero Australia, that Australians can expect to pay up to $1.5 trillion by 2030 for Net Zero. And that's going to be extracted, the cost of that is going to be extracted from Australian families, households, businesses and industry.

$1.5 trillion in the next five years!

And to top it off, because we’re responsible for only 1 per cent of global carbon emissions, it won’t actually make any difference to the climate.

Not while the world’s biggest economies keep increasing their emissions.

As Danish political scientist, statistician and author Bjorn Lomborg points out, our prosperity is what protects us from natural disasters. 

Because the world is now wealthier, fewer people are dying from natural disasters now compared to the 1920s.

It’s a fact!

But Albo doesn’t care about that.

Instead, Labor has settled on a path that will lead to worse quality of life and higher prices.

And I’m not going to just take it without a fight.
