Seven – a magical number.

Not certain and can't be bothered to check – but I think if someone has been 'missing' for seven years, then they may be declared 'dead'. So insurance has to cough up and 'wills' may be executed; in short a line is drawn under the mystery and matters financial may be finalised.
I wonder if the insurers of airframe and engines are affected buy the same rule? The Hull has been missing for the same length of time as the passengers; can it be classed as 'dead'?
There has been some fairly healthy 'passive' resistance to continued search for the last seven years (give or take) but it seems now the seven year itch has been scratched; 'cooperation to resolve the (ahem) mystery' is being mooted. Aye colour me cynical if you like, but it stirs my curiosity bump.
