Stockholm syndrome writ large, could be said, but thanks be that some intelligence is showing. Certainly in contrast to the ongoing miserable and unremitting savagery against our industry, vis., charter, flying training, CFS and the bureaucratic cleavage of GA administration with the wrongheaded low weight categorisation. The latter split should never have been enacted, it is of continuing detriment to all Australians.
Having transitioned to the new Basic Class 2 medical certificate I can say this is a vast improvement in cost and convenience to myself, but this does nothing to negate the stupidity of disallowing IFR or instructing under this new system, just to mention two of the many glaring and unreasonable impediments to gaining a medical fitness approval to fly.
