The only words in that OI release that are relevant, specifically, the charging herd of elephants, trumpeting, with tusks at the ready, are the very last:
“when circumstances allow”.
This begs the most obvious of all questions:
“what circumstance(s) DIS-allow”.
To my way of thinking, there are only 5 broad categories of candidates:
1 – Weather: – no – season is still open
2 – Vessel: – no – 05 and 06 still viable – (06 closer / sooner)
3 – Equipment: – no – proven technology
4 – Company: – no – keen to continue
5 – Malaysia – contract – probable – unacceptable (to OI) variation of terms ?
I could never understand why OI accepted a contract which obviously has conditions which prohibit them from making ‘unauthorized’ public statements.
Perhaps OI initially thought that it was in their interests to maintain a kind of “doctor – patient” confidentiality, but clearly that has backfired on them.
OI now face a possible PR disaster, a bit like those doctors who kept Andreas Lubitz secrets from authorities. I might add that those who sign NDA’s run similar risks in the long run.
