Small minds - Big country.
"CASA said yesterday that it would not necessarily conduct further consultation on changes to Sydney airspace, but would consider the adequacy of the Airservices Australia consultation before implementing the proposal."
"Last month, Airservices Australia conducted industry engagement sessions at Bankstown Airport that revealed a lower overlying Class C level than that included in the original Airspace Change Proposal (ACP), further restricting Class G in the Sydney basin."
Those quotes (and the rest of it) from P2's post (above) clearly define the bed wetting, hand wringing, make work drama a new aerodrome in the Sydney basin has produced. Clearly defining the waste, lack of expertise and, importantly lack of infrastructure and interest in Australian aviation growing up.
The link - HERE - is worth a read; from Wiki; scroll down past the headline airports and try to count the 'other' airfields in the LA area. Then count the 'airports' in the Sydney area; you only need one hand to do so. If you can bear it; compare the 'traffic' numbers to even the smallest 'commercial' airport in the LA area, then, (if you can stand it) consider a city like London, of some of the European capital cities. The remarkable things are the airspace management, the air traffic control services and the volume of traffic 'managed' 24/7. Then read the dribble from the 'Australian' bed wetters, and compare pro-rata the 'cost' per movement, per aircraft in this wide, brown, empty land. Read it, weep and wonder....
Toot - toot.
