For a very good reason, the whole concept of our ASAOs is a wrong model of governance.
It is simply a shameful handoff of responsibility for the administration of some areas of General Aviation that CASA deems not particularly important and allows it less work whilst being paid the same. ASAOs are monopolies and always end up being private fiefdoms of varying inefficiency and at times subject to the whims of individuals with little available come back from Members.
Not to decry the many well intentioned and hard working types that try to make the best of these various ASAOs but it’s just fact that all aviation administration should be via a government Department.
