Senator McDonald’s video clip shows her knowledge about the destruction by CASA of our general aviation (GA). 
Unfortunately she’s not espoused the only credible means of rectification of the inherent problem of governance, as she said, that CASA is an independent “statutory authority.” 

CASA was created in open defiance of the Westminster principle of having the major arms of government administered in a Department with a responsible Minister at head.

Unless and until MPs like Senator McDonald advocate for this fundamental change then the abysmal costly dysfunction and mismanagement of Australia’s aviation industry will continue.

When in Government, Senator McDonald orchestrated a two year inquiry into the management of GA. After plowing through the same old ground, which had been thoroughly done in 2014 (Forsyth), this culminated in precisely nothing of substance. This inquiry completely fizzled out as the Coalition lost government to Labor.

For any real hope for GA the Coalition parties will have to formulate a policy to change the game. The only plausible means to that end is to start with a democratic model of governance, Ministerial control.
