From the ATSB –– a few words about the dead stick Conquest landing on a highway in WA.
Mention is made of ‘water’ in the fuel tanks. It would interesting to know exactly how much water there was (estimated) present, how long it had been there and an analysis of the fuel upload v fuel burns against noted residual fuel for the preceding months.
That both engines quit almost at the same time speaks well for the engineers and the engine set up.
I wonder, did the passengers fly out once the aircraft was refueled? ATSB don't mention it. But it is nice that Lady Luck took a hand – that could have been a very different result; all things considered.
